Before the celebration of Lunar New Year, Horse-Head Fiddler of Year and Horse-Head Fiddle Work of Year are selected and
they are bestowed awards named after the President of Mongolia. This year the award of Horse-Head Fiddler of Year is bestowed to Buyankhishigiyn Togtokhjargal, solo horse-head fiddler of Mongolian National Song and Dance Ensemble. In the certificate awarded to the Horse-Head Fiddler of Year notes: “You B.Togtokhjargal are an outstandingly skilled, highly professional horse-head fiddle player. The President of Mongolia is bestowing the award named after him for your valuable contribution for advertising horse-head fiddle by playing Mongolian and world classic music on stages of our and other countries and inspired public by exuberant sounds of horse-head fiddle. Let your talent and works be valuable for the country and people and be well known for the continent and the world.” The award consists of the certificate and cash prize of one million tugrugs that is sponsored by “ Ikel” Foundation for Development of Folk Arts.
